Indicators

Although indicators have a large variety of uses, I will focus on a few different common tasks in the shop.
As time progresses I will add more uses and different features of them. Because just like the Gage Blocks
they have a large variety of uses. Different uses will have different pages to separate them and the discussion
of them.

A Mercer made in England dial indicator given to me by my mothers naighbour Bill, a retired Machinist,
this indicator and base belonged to his brother a Tool & Die Maker. Notice the stem of the indicator base rod?
They are turned down to be usable in more then one collet size.

I have attached Mil A-A23488 as a PDF, its the Military specification sheet for Dial Indicators. Most Dial
Indicators are built to meet this requirement due to the large customer the US military is where or not they
are inspected for these requirements. A lot of this standard's content is very similar (if not the same) to the
AGD dial indicator specifications.
